The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Monday confirmed the appointment of James Pamment as the national team‍‍`s new fielding coach.

Pamment is set to join the squad ahead of the two-match Test series against Zimbabwe, starting on April 20. His contract will run through to the ICC ODI World Cup in October-November 2027.

“I’m really excited about the opportunity to work with a very talented Bangladesh side. I look forward to joining the players and the backroom staff ahead of the Zimbabwe series,” Pamment said in a statement.

Born in England, the 56-year-old is now based in New Zealand, where he played first-class cricket for Auckland.

Pamment brings a wealth of coaching experience, having worked with the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as an assistant coach since 2018.

He has also held several key roles in New Zealand Cricket, including High Performance Fielding Resource Coach and Technical Advisor for the national side, New Zealand A, and the Under-19 teams. Additionally, he served as head coach of the Northern Districts Cricket Association for five years and was New Zealand’s assistant coach during their 2011 home series against Pakistan.

Pamment has also had a brief coaching stint with the USA national team.

His appointment comes after the BCB recently extended the contract of head coach Phil Simmons until the 2027 World Cup.
